photostori.es is two people. Martin Splitt takes the photographs. Eva Mermingi writes what goes on the back.

That is the whole idea. Every photograph has a back, and ours are written for one picture and nothing else. The words would not make sense on any other print, and they are not meant to.

Photographers have written on their prints for a long time. Duane Michals has written by hand on his, and drawn on them, since the 1960s. We are not doing that, but we are standing in that line.

This is for people who read slowly and look twice.

One day the prints will exist on paper, front and back, in a box you can hold. Until then they live here. Turn them over.
